Are ADUs allowed where I live?

It depends on your city or township. Rules on detached ADUs, size, setbacks and who can live in them vary across Southeast Michigan. We check your local zoning before design so you know your options up front.

What’s the difference between an ADU and an in-law suite?

An ADU is usually a complete, separate living unit with its own entrance, kitchen and bathroom, either attached or detached. An in-law suite is often part of the main home, such as a basement or first-floor suite, and may share some spaces.

How much does an ADU or in-law suite cost?
