Home Additions in Southeast Michigan

Add the space your family needs without leaving the home and neighborhood you love. Work directly with the owners from design to the final walkthrough.

More room, without moving

Outgrowing your home doesn’t have to mean selling it. A well-planned addition gives you the bedroom, family room or bigger kitchen you need, and when it’s done right it looks like it was always part of the house. Vision Family Homes designs and builds additions across Southeast Michigan.

Because we build custom homes from the ground up, we handle the parts of an addition that matter most: foundations, framing, rooflines, and tying new heating, plumbing and electrical into your existing systems. You work directly with the owners, Mike and Vince, from the first visit to the final walkthrough.

Types of additions we build

How your addition comes together

1. Consultation

We visit your home, talk through how you want to use the new space and your budget, and look at your lot.

2. Feasibility & design

We check setbacks, zoning and your existing structure, then design an addition that fits your home and gives you a written quote.

3. Permits & construction

We pull permits and build the foundation, framing, roof and systems, then tie the addition into your house.

4. Finishes & walkthrough

We finish the space to match your home and walk it with you to take care of any punch-list items.

“I couldn’t have had a better experience. I worked directly with the owners in the design process, and had daily on-site interaction with them throughout construction. Their team did incredible work, and finished even earlier than expected.”

Home addition FAQs

How much does a home addition cost?

It depends on the size of the addition, whether it includes a kitchen or bathroom, the foundation and roof work involved, and your finishes. After a free consultation we give you a detailed written quote so you know the cost before work starts.

How long does it take to build an addition?

Most additions take a few months from the start of construction, plus time up front for design and permits. Size, weather and material lead times all play a part. We give you a timeline with your quote and keep you updated.

Do you handle permits and zoning?

Yes. We check setbacks and zoning rules for your lot, pull the required permits and schedule inspections with your city or township.

Can we live at home during construction?

In most cases, yes. We build the addition first and open it up to the existing house as late as practical, keeping the work area separated and cleaned up each day.

Should I build up or out?

It depends on your lot size, setbacks and existing structure. Building out is often simpler; building up saves yard space. We’ll walk through both options with you during the consultation.
